Policies and Procedures for the Student Clinic

The student massage clinic is an integral part of the student learning experience. It is where our students train and practice their massage and bodywork, client interaction, and professional skills on the general public under the supervision of a skilled massage therapist.

Our student clinic is also a place of relaxation and healing; a place in which our students can be of service to the community; and also, a place in which clients can optimize health, experience pain relief, and seek assistance with health issues.

Treatments are performed by students who are enrolled in the diploma program. At a minimum, students can perform a relaxation therapeutic massage but, based on where they are in their training, may not be able to deliver a great deal of pressure, work on specific issues, or work with certain modalities. Students are randomly assigned to clients. We will attempt to schedule requests for a specific therapist up to 5 times.

Student clinic availability varies based on the number of classes going through the program, holidays, and school breaks.  It is imperative that you read the student clinic policy before you continue to book appointments, including our right to refuse service, scheduling and cancellation, informed consent clauses, and liability waiver.

Appointment Scheduling
Appointments must be scheduled in advance by calling AiCM reception Desk.  Please arrive five to ten minutes before your scheduled appointment time to complete the necessary paperwork and prepare for the session. If you are running late, please give us a call and note that your appointment will still end at its scheduled time, and you will still be charged the full amount of your service. We regret having to shorten any valuable time from your service due to lateness.

Pre-scheduling for the month following the current month occurs on the First Business Day of the month starting at 8:00am.  If the 1st falls on a weekend day, then the following Monday at 8:00am will be the first day and time we will accept calls.  Any calls or emails made prior to the first business day of the month prior to 8:00am will be deleted.

We will accept emails addressed to reception@aicm.edu regarding pre-scheduling appointments for the 1st 5 business days of the month with the stated conditions mentioned above (1st business day of the month starting at 8:00am).  Any emails outside of that timeframe will be deleted.  The reception email address is not to be used for any other purpose by clients.  Any questions, cancellations, or additional appointments will need to be addressed via the front desk in person or by phone.

Cancellation policy
If you need to cancel, change your appointment, or notify us that someone else will be taking your scheduled appointment, please notify the reception desk at least 24 hours in advance.  Occasionally, we have to cancel or change appointments due to student’s availability which is why we do not charge for late cancellations.   However, if a client has a history of no-shows; we will ask for payment at the time of scheduling the appointment.

Payment
All sessions must be paid prior to the service.  Please present gift certificates at the time of check-in.  No returns or refunds.  AiCM clinic does not bill insurance.  Also, tipping students is not allowed.
